Opal (Lux, #3)

Opal (Lux, #3) - Jennifer L. Armentrout See more reviews like this at Reading Books Like a Boss5 STARS!!!All spoilers are in spoiler tags for those who haven't read it!!I went into this book with HUGE expectations. Every one of my expectations was met, including the huge cliffhanger ending. In classic JLA style, she left me speechless and wanting more! There was nonstop action from beginning to end. Starting with Dawson creeping in Katy's bedroom followed by the dead man that comes flying through her window. I couldn't put this book down except to work and sleep. One minute Daemon's one-liners had me laughing out loud and the next minute, stunned into silence. The crazy plot twists had me theorizing and coming up with the most ridiculous plot lines. One of these crack-pot theories involved the mysterious nightly visitor creeping in Katy's bed. I had this whacked-out idea that it was Luc, but I was wrong. We finally get to see Katy and Daemon as a couple, and I was pleased as punch to see their interactions. And of course, Daemon just wouldn't be Daemon with some snarky one-liners. While you did see the "prickly Christmas cactus" Daemon, you also saw softer Downy bear Daemon. I can't decide who I like better."You make me think before I act. You make me want to be a better person-Luxen-whatever.""I make terrible decisions. I can be a dickhead and I do it on purpose. I tend to bully people into doing what I want...But you...you make me want to be different.""If you start climbing on car hoods, I think I might marry you."I rolled my eyes and straightened, giving my head one more shake. "Done."He stared at me. "You're cute." One thing I really loved about Opal was Katy's strength and maturity. She has gone through so much since the beginning of the series, and she takes it all in stride. Every decision she makes, she is thinking of how it would affect others. Going from shy book-nerd Katy to something impossible; someone who had changed on more than a cellular level. I no longer saw the world in black and white and deep down I knew I didn't operate on basic social norms anymore.I also loved Daemon and Katy's discussion of time management. They both made pretty valid points. ;)All in all, this book was a ride, to say the least. There were so many twists and turns. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't figure out where it is going next. Sadly, we have to wait until Summer 2013 for Book 4, Origin, which will be in both Katy's & Daemon's POV.Oh and I did like JLA's little bit towards the end of the book about cliffhangers. "It sucked-sucked worse than people who pirated books, sucked more than waiting a year for the next book in a beloved series, and sucked more than a brutal cliffhanger ending.Really funny, JLA. I'm in stitches. This was pretty much me by the end of the book, except my hair isn't quite that voluminous.and then I was like...but then it was back to...If you've read Opal, this is for you!!!Oh and Blake, this is what I hope Katy does to you when she sees you again.
